Description: This is a scarce and attractive 8 Reales piece from the short lived and low mintage Argentinian republic series. Of the surviving examples, very few are medallic oriented, making this piece that much more unique! It appears to have had a test cut on the obverse likely made shortly after it was minted by a surrounding nation’s merchant wanting to assure purity. Softening of central detail on the reverse suggests it was once mounted upon something. Aside from this, it is an incredibly popular and collectible specimen from an uncommon and short lived series!
