Description: Ecuador 1884 1/2 Sucre Trial Strike Pattern Uniface INCREDIBLY RARE. Here is an incredibly rare pattern from Ecuador. 1884 1/2 Sucre Heaton die trial. Weighs 9.38 grams. This trial was struck on an oversized white metal planchet, and has rectangular scratch marks in the center of the obverse design, probably done at the mint to mark the center of the obverse design. These Ecuadorian sucre die trial strikings are incredibly rare, with a set selling for around $7,000 back in 2017. This exact coin sold in June of 2020 at a Stephen Album sale for $1,100 plus buyers fee, or around $1,300. In that sale, there were 4 examples of various sizes of die trials, but this by far brought the most money, as it was the only example struck on an oversized planchet.
